As we are getting ready for Expo! Expo! next week, we’ve been busy with other things too! I am pleased to announce that we have finally launched a blog for the a2z team to use to share their expertise on the events industry as well as marketing, IT, business, leadership and other exciting topics we hope you find useful. Check it out here

I’d also like to remind you a final time to come by our booth #613 at Expo! Expo! in Vegas. Cool prizes and new features, including our attendee acquisition tool will be there for you to see.

  CASE STUDY

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) used to run a “war room” complete with lots of personnel, computers, and screens for the two-day booth space draw they held prior to its annual event. a2z worked closely with IAAPA to understand their processes, identify problem areas and provide a floor plan solution to help them work more effectively. Now the space draw is automated and orderly, with the flexibility for some of their other shows to follow a more portable, and exhibitor-friendly process using iPads(tm) to bring the point of sale to the show floor.
With a 60% increase in on site sales for their Singapore show, Pete Barto, Vice President, Exhibitor Marketing and Sales is very happy. “We are only a year removed from a giant grease board floor plan and wax pencil. The transition was seamless and the results were substantial. Our transfer to a2z has changed the way we do everything. a2z has led this charge.

TWEET CHAT

Have you participated in any Tweet Chats? They are the source of great idea generation – and it’s FREE.
Here at a2z, the first Wednesday of every month at 12:30 p.m. ET, our chat (#a2zusergroup) is moderated by Dave Lutz of Velvet Chainsaw. We always keep the topic and save the date updated on our Tweet Chat page. Archives of our great discussions with our friends and clients are also posted on the website. If you have a specific question relevant to the next chat, or a topic to suggest, submit it in advance using the quick form on this page. You don’t have to be a client or an a2z user to participate. Just jump in and participate or “listen in” by following our hashtag each month.
Recently, we had a chat about videos and how people were using it. With 40% of last year’s global internet traffic being video consumption (and a forecast of 90% + by 2014), it’s something we all need to be thinking about. Many great ideas and links were shared on how folks are using videos as promotional tools. Here’s a summarized list:
  • FAQs
  • How-to
  • Show dailies
  • Testimonials
  • Exhibitor updates (freight tips, etc.)
  • Promote exhibitor videos
  • Flash Mobs
  • Event promos (time lapse, on the floor interviews, etc.)
Check out EXPO Magazine's recent great article entitled “What’s a Tweet Chat and Why Should I Care” with great insight into how the Events Industry is using this new way of building community.
